It's that time of year again. Lots of us have made or will make resolutions; many of these resolutions will be about getting back into shape/ shedding some excess weight. Some of these resoolutions will actually make a difference - some of us will stick to the plans. I have picked a website which in my view offers an excellent source of solid ('evidence based') advice on this sort of stuff - it really is worth a look before leaping into the new program!
Top Tip: visit the website of the ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) - "Position stands"
http://www.acsm.org/access-public-information/position-stands
Especially recommended:
- Quantity and quality of exercise (cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, neuromotor fitness)
- Physical Activity intervention strategies for weight loss
- Progression models or Resistance Training
Hot Tip: use the App "My Fitness Pal"
http://www.myfitnesspal.com
This really is a great App. You may find that after using it for a couple of weeks, you may not need it anymore - you are calibrated!
Enjoy! ....... Now, all I have to do is pick my own resolutions and stick to them. Good luck with yours - whatever they may be.
